Betsy grew up in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Shaw High School in 1975 and from the University of South Alabama in 1978, with a B. S. in Nursing.

After moving from Birmingham to Gulf Shores in 1986 Betsy founded Professional Land Title, Inc. in August 1992. Betsy is married to Randy McKinney. They have been married for 28 years and have 2 grown children, Clarissa and Andrew who are both graduates of Auburn University.

For recreation, Betsy enjoys playing tennis and boat riding. She also enjoys singing and is active in her church choir and is a charter member of the Coastal Chorale.
